Possibility of discussing the Palestine
question during the next sessions is increased

New York - During the morning of
discussions, the UNSC decided to focus on the decisions embracing the Council’s
rule regarding terrorism in the current international scenario. The delegates
brought up many points of discussion for this theme and to organize which ones
they were going to debate and in which order, the United States delegate
suggested to create a mini-agenda divided in nine points of discussion
regarding the terrorism theme.
With the agenda defined, the
delegate of Pakistan suggested an unusual way of discussion. The delegates were
divided in four small groups to debate some of the main points they had on
their agenda. The group themes were: defining terrorism; combat financing and
arming terrorism; sanctions and reparations; protection to human rights,
self-determination and national liberation forces.
The majority of the
decisions were pretty peaceful and even the members of the chair were surprised
by the organization and calmness that was predominant in the room. There are
rumors that the members of the USNC will be able to conclude the discussions
about terrorism and, for the first time since 2006, get all the resolutions for
this topic done and start to discuss the second topic, which in the case would
be the admission of Palestine as a new member of the council.
